I.D.E.A.Labs
The goal of this project was to develop an eye-catching brand identity that would bring awareness to Clatsop Community College's new maker space, I.D.E.A.Labs.
I.D.E.A.Labs stands for Imagination, Design, Engineering, and Art. It is a space filled with state of the art technology, and designed for students, faculty, and members of the invested community to make their creative ideas real.
Deliverables included branding design elements, as well as a brand guideline booklet for internal designer use.

In order to meet the client's needs for accessibility standards, the design had to be bold, and the text clear and legible. In addition, I wanted to use round shapes and a bold illustrative style to quickly and efficiently communicate that the lab space was welcoming for artists and the community to use.

Early on in the brainstorming process, an idea that stuck out to me was the concept of a "Eureka!" moment. I wanted the brand to communicate that the lab would be a place of imagination, inspiration, and production; the tools you would need to fulfill your creative vision would be available to you.
In line with the idea of community as well, I imagined what it would look like to bring components together; both in executing your creative vision on the small scale, and bringing different members of the community together on the large scale.
After a couple rounds of revision, this manifested two design directions: the lightbulb and the honeycomb. The lightbulb was the "Eureka" direction, and the honeycomb was the "Components" direction.
The lightbulb direction was chosen by the client to develop into I.D.E.A.Labs' brand identity.
