Oregon Wildlife Foundation
The goal of this project was to, in a small group, design a hypothetical brand refresh for a local non-profit organization. In this case, we chose the Oregon Wildlife Foundation. We aimed to update the brand in a way that still communicated the organization's goal of empowering local conservation, while adding more visual personality to attract a wider audience; playful, but still professional.
Deliverables included a mini refreshed brand identity including color, type, and iconography, as well as outreach mockups, including a website redesign, social media, and merchandise.

Process
This process began with brainstorming related to Oregon's native biodiversity and landscape. Initial exploration focused on combining several of these aspects into one, the beaver, mountains, and forests, but this was decided to be to visually unclear. To improve readability, we eventually decided on a more fleshed out icon set revolving around Oregon's official state animals and plants. Once we had this initial icon set created, we were able to flesh out more of the branding.
A bold display typeface was chosen to signal attention, while a clean sans serif typeface was chosen for readability and to set a professional tone in body text. It was important to balance the professional sense of the organization, and the more playful warmth we were introducing. The colors chosen represent different aspects of Oregon's landscapes: the ocean, the high desert, and the forests.
The System
The website and social media mockups remain similar to the originals, but utilize the new colors and icon sets to improve the warmth of the organization. Outreach is important for non-profits and this refresh seeks to improve reach through appearing more welcoming, rather than clean and corporate.
In addition to the web, my group produced mockup concepts of physical outreach materials, including stickers and sustainable merchandise.
